Meet Freckles and Sunrise Surprise (Sunny). Hilltop Farms agreed to foster Freckles, a pregnant mare seized from
horrible conditions by humane officers and turned over to Bryce and Chris LeJeune of Second Chance Equine. SCEA
is dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of horses and other equine that have been seized by Humane Police
Officers in various counties. Their goal is to heal and rehabilitate with the purpose of preparing each equine for
adoption into loving homes. They are always looking for caring horse lovers to assist with donations of time, money,
equine supplies (buckets, fly masks, blankets, halters, feed, hay, etc.) and of course people willing to open their heart
and home as an adoptive or foster family. Freckles gave birth May 14, 2008 sometime in the wee hours of the morning
and waiting for us when we came to the barn in the morning was Sunrise Surprise, a beautiful black filly with lots of
chrome!!! She is as friendly as she is pretty and allowed us all to fuss over her and even rub her belly. The pictures
above were taken the afternoon of her first day. Both Mom and filly will be available for adoption when Sunny is
weaned. Freckles is a pleasant mare who loves attention and has excellent ground manners even as a new Mom. By
the time Sunny is ready to be adopted she will be halter broke, lead, load on a trailer and stand quietly to be brushed
and handled. Please take the time to check out the Second Chance Equine website and help in whatever way that you
can.
